On Friday, January 20th, the RENDEZVOUS crew and I celebrated our 15th anniversary at the beautiful Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, California. As part of the evening's festivities, we partnered with Austrian film/music label Cineploit and screened L'isola dei resuscitati morti -- a short film directed by Domenico Montixi that is a brilliant homage to Italian zombie genre films of the early '80s à la Lucio Fulci and Joe D'Amato. The film screened beautifully and, from the audience's reaction, was a tremendous hit. Below you'll find Antonio Lucchi's stellar poster art and a behind-the-scenes video of his alternative poster. The Rendezvous event poster above was designed by RENDEZVOUS graphics wiz Carlos Colón.
And here's footage of the film's introduction by Cineploit's Alex Wank and director Domenico Montixi (footage shot from the projection booth on my iPhone).
Many thanks to our guest DJ and dear friend Scott Carlson for hooking us up with Cineploit and Domenico, to the awesome staff at The Frida Cinema, and to all our friends and patrons who joined us that night.
